Robert Kasirer – Camp Ramah in the Berkshires

Attorney Robert Kasirer was previously Of Counsel with the real estate financing and development practice group of the law firm Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg & Phillips, as well as an executive with Golden State Health Centers, Inc. Active with numerous nonprofit organizations, Robert Kasirer supports Camp Ramah in the Berkshires.

A summer camp community, Camp Ramah in the Berkshires combines the Jewish experience with the joy of camping. This coeducational facility welcomes 4th- to 11th-graders every summer to its campus in New York. Campers get to participate in athletics, aquatic sports, theater arts, and multimedia training while cultivating friendships.

Judaism remains an integral part of the Camp Ramah experience. Along with promoting fluency in the Hebrew language, its learning programs include lessons from the Torah, arts and crafts related to traditional Jewish objects, and education about cultural music. Counselors provide insight into Israel’s history, politics, and culture and promote a connection between the youth and the nation. With every Friday afternoon marking the start of Shabbat, campers participate in Friday night services in an amphitheater by a lake before enjoying a typical Shabbat dinner. Moreover, Camp Ramah teaches students about Tikun Olan, or “repairing the world” through good deeds and community involvement.
